Good premise, decent plot, and interesting main character. The abuse, and more than a little ridiculous master necromancer mostly ruins any of that. The book is very well written too but how do enjoy watching a slave toil in despair while her only companion is in never ending agony. Well you don't, and it just took too long to break free of the master. The whole book you are just waiting for the book to start but then it ends and you go... oh it's one of those books. Honestly it's just glorified reminder that humanity is inherently evil, our instincts inhumane, and worst of all prone to destruction. Monsters and animals clearly more capable of the virtuous traits that we selfishly bestow upon ourselves. I don't need this reminder and it brings me no joy.
